Frimpong Manso, a former Ghanaian international, expressed his displeasure with the Black Stars’ lack of consistency.
Speaking on THE GAME on GHOne TV with Benjamin Yamoah and Monica Bukari, Manso emphasized the need to replace players who fail to perform well on national duty to maintain a competitive and formidable squad.
“There are some guys I think we need to, not all of them, but I have noticed some of them who are very committed, you can see, even if the team is losing, you can even see from their faces. They are feeling it”.
“Now we have World Cup qualifying games ahead of us. This is something that we can do. Those who are not playing well here, who are not putting in much effort in this qualifiers, we don’t consider them in the World Cup games because that is where every player dreams of playing one day” he added.
The coach of the Bibiani Gold Stars added that he finds it difficult to understand why certain players perform for their club but perform poorly for Ghana.
“We’ve been seeing them. Even if they play on, let’s say, Tuesday or Wednesday in Ghana, the weekend they will be playing in Europe and other parts of their world for their clubs. You see that a player who was not playing well here, he doesn’t even care he will get injured but goes to club and plays whole heartedly for the club”.
The Black Stars now occupy the bottom spot in group F following an unexpected 4-0 victory by Niger over Sudan on Thursday.
Despite the setback, there is still a chance for qualification. However, Ghana must secure back-to-back wins in their remaining matches against Angola and Niger.
