The 2024 Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has accused his political rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of stalking his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region in this election cycle.
On the campaign trail in the region, Mr. Mahama said his team had revised plans to visit the region owing to repeated clashes in scheduling with the New Patriotic Party presidential campaign only to have the avoidable happen.
“Last month, we went to Oti Region after a campaign tour of the Northern Region. Ashanti was supposed to be next on our schedule. However, no sooner had we planned to come here than we got word that Dr. Bawumia was going to be here for two weeks. We adjusted our plans to visit the Western North and Western Regions and get to Central. We assumed that by the time we finish, he would have been done and left because we didn’t want any clashes as a consequence of our visit.
“After he had left, we made public that we will be coming in. I’m waking up today to hear Dr. Bawumia is back here in Kumasi,” he told rally attendees.
He teased that Dr. Bawumia was not going to be successful in the election even if he brought his entire family along with him on the tour.
“What I want to tell him is, if he likes, he can go and bring Madam Hajia Samira [his wife] and bring his children here and his bed to come and sleep here, whatever he does, NDC will win this election,” Mr. Mahama taunted.
