Ademola Lookman Crowned 2024 African Player of the Year

Nigerian attacker Ademola Lookman has been adjudged the best player for the year 2024 at the CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Atalanta winger had won the 2024 Europa league with the Italian club, their first trophy in 61 years, where he scored a hatrick in the final.
With the Nigerian national team, Lookman scored 3 goals at the 2024 AFCON, helping the Super Eagles win silver after losing to Ivory Coast in the finals.
Lookman, speaking after receiving his award reflected on his football journey, how he had failed at some point and concluded by urging young players to keep working hard.

Other awards on the night went to Barbara Banda for the CAF Women’s Player of the Year, while Rowen Williams received the Men’s Goalkeeper and Men’s Interclub Player of the Year awards.
