President-elect John Dramani Mahama has formed a team to gather information on acts of corruption, with a commitment to holding individuals accountable once he assumes office.
In a statement released on Wednesday, December 18, by the Mahama Transition Team Spokesperson, it was confirmed that the team will be led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu.
The team’s mandate is to collect information from the public and other sources regarding suspected acts of corruption, in preparation for Mahama’s pledge to recover stolen state resources and ensure accountability.
The statement emphasised that the team would work to uncover corruption and take the necessary legal action when Mahama takes office. The following individuals have been appointed to the team:
- Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
- Mr. Daniel Domelovo – Former Auditor-General
- COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye
- Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private Legal Practitioner
- Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative Journalist
The team’s formation is part of Mahama’s broader anti-corruption agenda, which featured prominently in his 2024 campaign. One of the main pillars of this agenda is Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), which aims to recover funds misappropriated through corruption.
Mahama’s team intends to act swiftly on these issues, underscoring his commitment to tackling corruption head-on upon taking office.
