Two men have been arrested after the Tema Regional Police Command seized 1,613 parcels of suspected narcotic drugs in a targeted intelligence operation along the Akosombo-Tema Road.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of January 11, 2026, at Agomeda Junction, according to the police in a statement, followed tips that illegal substances were being transported from the Volta Region toward Tema.

Police intercepted a white Toyota Highlander and a black Mitsubishi Pajero driven by 33-year-old Isaac Odoi and 39-year-old Kwame Mani.
Searches of the vehicles uncovered 872 parcels in the Pajero and 741 parcels in the Highlander, all suspected to contain narcotics.

The suspects were taken into custody and handed over to the Regional CID in Tema on January 12.
Samples of the substances have been sent to the Forensic Crime Laboratory for testing, and further searches are planned at the suspects’ residences.

ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Command, said the operation underscores the police’s ongoing commitment to disrupting drug trafficking networks and urged the public to provide credible intelligence to support law enforcement efforts.
