Some Ghanaian tomato traders have been caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, northern Burkina Faso.

This was announced by Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak , in a stattement dated Sunday, February 15, 2026.

According to the Minister, the traders’ vehicle was caught in an assault reportedly targeting a military installation in the area.

“The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is liaising with the officials of Burkina Faso to visit the attack site for details and identification of Ghanaians caught in the attack,” he said.

The Interior Ministry noted that verification of casualties or injuries among the traders is ongoing. Muntaka “further details would be communicated to the public” as information becomes available.

Titao, located in northern Burkina Faso, has been a hotspot for militant attacks since 2019, making the region highly volatile for travelers and traders.

The Ministry emphasized that the Government of Ghana is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with local authorities to ensure the safety and welfare of its citizens.
