The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested five suspected members of a robbery syndicate following an intelligence-led operation in Kasoa and Agona Swedru.
The suspects have been identified as Bismark Amponsah alias Dotcom, 32, a driver; Abdul Razak Ibrahim alias Langa, 32; Michael Annor Baah alias Money, 29; Razak Jibril alias Salaala, 53, a trader; and Nana Yaw Bediako, 46, also a trader.
According to the Police Command, two of the suspects—Bediako and Jibril—are ex-convicts.
Bediako reportedly served 15 years in prison for robbery and was released in 2024, while Jibril served 25 years and was discharged in 2023.
Police say the group is linked to a series of robberies in Kasoa, Millennium City, and Agona Swedru, and was allegedly planning another attack before they were intercepted.
The arrests were made on 9 May 2026 by the Police Intelligence Department of the Central East Regional Command as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on organised criminal networks.
Items retrieved from the suspects include a pump-action gun loaded with 54 BB cartridges, a foreign pistol with 38 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a taser with three magazines, and other offensive weapons.
Speaking on the development, Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Peter Nchor, said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate, including an alleged mastermind believed to be operating from prison.
The five suspects have since been arraigned before the Ofaakor Circuit Court and remanded into police custody.
They are expected to reappear in court on 27 May 2026.
