A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications Team, Julius Karl D. Fieve, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for relying heavily on its Free Senior High School (SHS) policy to justify its record in government.
He argued that the party had failed to demonstrate comparable achievements in other areas of national development, despite frequently citing the flagship education policy as evidence of its accomplishments.
Speaking to Isaac Addae on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Mr Fieve attributed the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections to what he described as arrogance of power, corruption, mismanagement and incompetence.
He challenged the party to point to significant infrastructure projects completed during its tenure, questioning its broader record of development.
According to him, the NPP must critically assess its performance in government rather than attribute its electoral defeat to alleged intimidation of its supporters by members of the NDC.
Mr Fieve also argued that the party missed an opportunity to reposition itself during its recent national delegates’ conference and make changes that could strengthen its appeal to voters.

He criticised the party’s leadership choices, saying the conference presented an opportunity to elect experienced figures capable of rebuilding its relationship with young people, the middle class and sections of the media.
He maintained that the NPP’s ability to recover from its 2024 electoral defeat would depend on its willingness to honestly assess its record in government and address the concerns that contributed to its loss.
