Former Member of Parliament and the NDC’s candidate for Afram Plains South Constituency in the upcoming elections Joseph Appiah Boateng (JAB 1) has donated items worth GHC20,000 as part of measures to fight coronavirus outbreak in the area

Mr. Appiah Boateng donated ten (10) different Infra and Gun thermometers to the various health centres in Afram Plains South and part of Afram North.

The beneficiary health centres include Koranten, Donkorkrom, Tease, Forifori, Ekye Amanfrom, AkamaKophe, MaameKrobo, Kwasi fante and few others.

In addition to these items are eight (8) boxes of Vitamin C and other useful items.

According to him, he could not acquire the expected number due to the challenges in importing products into the country but assured to work tirelessly to provide more in order to reach the whole District.

“The price has increased so each thermometer cost me GHC1,500,” he said.

The items were donated to the Kwahu Afram Plains South District Health Director Ms Juana Amankwah at Tease on Saturday 4th April, 2020.

An opinion leader Mr Amankwah who made the donation on behalf of the former MP said the candidate is determined and committed to the district.

Speaking to Agoo FM’s Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor (K-Lover) Ms Juana Amankwah said, the Infrared thermometers and the Gun thermometers are very key to the work they are doing.

“The first point of assessment after the general observation we need to check the person’s temperature, the reading gives us a clue as to the health status of that individual when there is a rise in the body temperature it tells us something and when it is too low, it also tells us something.

“We’ve been doing this throughout our delivery system but in the wake of this COVID-19, it is important that we keep our distances in terms of delivering services to the people but if you need to check the person’s temperature the usual way is you place the temperature under the armpit of that individual and after it has read although we disinfect alright before we use it on other person but with this gadget, it’s so easy, at a distance you can quickly access the person’s temperature. So it’s going to really improve the speed of our work, its also going to improve the confidence between us and the client.” She noted

Expressing their profound gratitude to the Fmr MP she said: “The message I have for Hon Joseph Appiah Boateng (JAB1) is that we are so so grateful to the donations today, we pray that God will replenish his life, wherever he took the money from we pray for multiplication.”

On his part, Tease Chief Nana Adu Parko II expressed satisfaction over the items adding that it will improve the health system in the area.
