Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has assured that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will face due process upon his return to Ghana, emphasizing adherence to the rule of law.
The remarks were made during the Government Accountability Series in Accra.
Addressing the Press, Dr. Ayine said, “Under my watch, he will not be treated unfairly, you know? He will go through due process and be prosecuted just like any other person, just like, you know, or any of the persons that I have filed charges against.”
He stressed that the ongoing extradition request, coordinated with the Office of the Special Prosecutor, reflects Ghana’s commitment to accountability and legal transparency.
“The courts, rather than public announcements, will ultimately decide on the charges and proceedings once Ofori-Atta is extradited,” Dr. Ayine added.
Ofori-Atta, along with seven others, faces a total of 78 charges filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, related to alleged corruption and procurement irregularities involving revenue assurance contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
