Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has appealed to voters in the Akwatia constituency to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, Bernard Bediako Baidoo Esq, in the upcoming September 2 by-election.

According to him, electing the NDC candidate will ensure Akwatia benefits directly from government’s development agenda, since the candidate will have access to the President and other top officials to bring developmental projects.

“With the NDC in power, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, who is son of the President, will have easy access to the him and government machinery to bring the needed development to the people of Akwatia. So I urge the voters to vote for him. I want to assure you that the NDC government won’t disappoint the people of Akwatia.” Julius Debrah stated.

He assured residents that government remains committed to delivering on its promises to improve infrastructure and living standards in the constituency, adding that the NDC will not disappoint the people after the polls.

The Chief of Staff made the remarks while meeting religious leaders in Akwatia as part of his campaign tour for the NDC candidate.

The chief of Staff earlier visited the Palace of Chief of Akyem Wenchi, also Oseawuohene of Akyem Abuakwa, Daasebre Dr Asumadu Appiah to introduce the parliamentary candidate.

He directed that a meeting be convened between the chiefs of Akwatia and stakeholders for consideration of the feasibility of establishing a satellite campus of the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT) at Akwatia in the Eastern Region.

The move follows a proposal from the Chiefs of the Oseawuo Division to convert part of the facilities of defunct Great Consolidated Diamond Company (GCD) into a satellite campus for training of the youth in sustainable mining methods.

According to the Chiefs, the proposal, which has been on the table for decades, will help train the youth on sustainable mining and create more job opportunities.
