Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that all public projects meet the highest standards, as he summons contractors responsible for the Drobonso District Court project over concerns regarding the quality of work.
During an inspection of the project, Dr. Amoakohene observed alarming structural defects, including visible cracks in the building and a deteriorating ceiling, raising serious safety concerns.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, he condemned the poor workmanship, stressing that such substandard work undermines the government’s efforts to provide durable infrastructure for the people.
“I am extremely disappointed in the shoddy work done by the contractors,” Dr. Amoakohene stated.
“This is unacceptable. Government projects must be executed with the highest level of professionalism and quality to ensure safety and longevity.”
The NDC-led government, under which Dr. Amoakohene serves, has reiterated its resolve to enforce strict quality control measures on all government-funded projects.
He warned that contractors who fail to meet the required standards will be held accountable and face appropriate consequences.
As part of this commitment, Dr. Amoakohene has given the contractors an ultimatum to appear before him and provide an explanation for the defects.
It is expected that they will be directed to rectify the issues immediately to ensure that the project aligns with the required construction standards.
The project, which was commissioned two years ago under the previous NPP administration, led by President Nana Akufo-Addo, is now under scrutiny as the current government takes steps to uphold quality and accountability in public infrastructure projects.
Dr. Amoakohene emphasized that moving forward, strict monitoring mechanisms will be put in place to prevent such occurrences, ensuring that taxpayer money is used efficiently for sustainable development.
