Asante Kotoko have announced the immediate departure of head coach Eric Tinkler, following the club’s 2–0 defeat to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
In a statement dated September 28, 2026, the club’s Board of Directors said it had agreed to Tinkler’s request to be released from his contract for personal reasons.
The club said both parties had earlier engaged in discussions to prevent the decision, but ultimately respected Tinkler’s request.
Asante Kotoko expressed gratitude to the South African coach for his professionalism and commitment during his relatively short spell with the club, and wished him well in his future endeavours.
The club added that it remains focused on its sporting objectives, with the technical team set to continue implementing its strategies under the leadership of Director of Football, Stanley Purl Menzo.
The announcement comes shortly after Kotoko’s 2–0 home defeat to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
