Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is set to begin a nationwide tour on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, as part of his campaign to become the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
According to a statement from his campaign team, the tour will take Dr. Bawumia to all 276 constituencies, where he will engage directly with polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, constituency officers, and key party elders.
The campaign described the tour as a “grassroots-focused initiative” aimed at strengthening party structures and deepening unity within the NPP.
“This grassroots-focused tour is designed for Dr. Bawumia to have a direct and personal engagement with the Polling Station, Electoral Area Coordinators, Constituency Executives (current & Former), Former Members of parliament, Former MMDCEs, Patrons & Council of elders,” the statement said.
The Bawumia team also used the occasion to appeal for civility and issue-based campaigning as the race for the NPP flagbearer slot intensifies.
“we have observed with growing concern the recent trend of communication, where some exchanges have devolved into personal insults, unsubstantiated attacks, and the denigration of individuals. Such conduct is not in the spirit of the NPP and runs counter to the values of unity, respect, and decency that we hold dear,” the statement emphasized.
It further urged all campaign members and supporters to refrain from insults, base their arguments on facts, and uphold the dignity of the NPP.
“As we seek to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections, we must remember that our goal is party unity and national progress. Communications that sow division and create lasting animosity only serve to weaken our collective front. Let us be remembered for raising the standard of political discourse, not for lowering it,” the statement added.
Dr. Bawumia is expected to use the tour to share his vision for Ghana’s future while rallying support from delegates across the country ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.
