The Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panyin Eduamoa Okyere, has appealed to the Ministry of Education to introduce a feeding programme for candidates sitting the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) nationwide.
During a tour of examination centres across the Central Region, the Minister called on government and the School Feeding Secretariat to ensure students are provided with meals during the examination period.
According to him, some candidates report feeling unwell in the examination hall due to what they consume before the papers, with incidents of vomiting recorded in some cases.
He stressed that providing proper meals would help safeguard candidates’ health and enable them to perform at their best.
The Minister also urged candidates to remain focused on their studies and avoid any form of examination malpractice.
Meanwhile, some candidates expressed optimism after writing their papers, describing them as manageable and not as difficult as anticipated.
They remain confident of achieving excellent results.
