The Cuban Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Annette Chao Garcia has been installed as a development Queen by the Chiefs and people of the Dorfor Traditional Area in the North Tongu District of the Volta region.
Her enstoolment is in recognition of her continuous contributions to the delivery of quality health services in the area and across the country.
She is now with the traditional tittle Mama Lamesenya I (The Queen of Health).
In June this year, the Ambassador in partnership with the MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa led the Cuban Medical Brigade to Mepe where over 2000 residents in the enclave were offered free medical screening and consultation and treatment.
The Cuban Diplomat for the second time, led another team to Juapong on Monday for a similar exercise with another set of over 2000 residents benefiting.
The Manklalo of the Dorfor Traditional Area, Togbe Agbohla VI during the event indicated that the decision to confer a title on the Ambassador is as a result of her interventions in the area of health.
He urged residents to accord the Ambassador the necessary recognition while urging the Ambassador, to consider herself a true citizen of the area.
The Ambassador, Annette Chao Garcia told the media that “I feel very proud to be given this recognition because we are Africans too.”
She was quick to eulogise the Member of Parliament for the area, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who she said is “committed and persistent in his approach to the development of his people.”
The MP on his part, paid a glowing tribute to the people of Cuba, the Ambassador and the Cuban Medical Brigade for their commitment to serving humanity through such projects.
Mr. Ablakwa also reiterated his resolve to ensuring that ovarall access to quality health services in North Tongu is achieved and sustained.
