Ghana needs cleaning to strengthen state institutions again – Asiedu Nketia

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says Ghana needs “house cleaning” to revitalize the country’s institutions.

Speaking at a mini rally at Mamfe-Akuapem and Kwamoso in the Akuapem North Constituency during his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, he said the promise made by the NDC’s flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama, to “Reset the Country.” reflects this ambition.

Asiedu Nketia criticized the current administration, led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for running down key institutions, thereby undermining the effective functioning of democracy.

He argued that the “resetting” agenda proposed by Mahama would restore the strength and independence of crucial institutions, including the police, judiciary, and Electoral Commission.

“The resetting agenda means institutions with be strong and independent. Police will work independently, Judges will work independently without being influenced. We will not have an Attorney General who will be meeting judges secretly to influence judges to jail innocent people. If you are on that land you are not in a functioning democracy. So when President Mahama says we are going to rest the country that is what he means” Said Asiedu Nketia

He assured that under a Mahama-led government, all institutions, including the military, would function efficiently and be held accountable, ensuring a robust democratic system in Ghana.

“The police will work efficiently, Electoral Commission will work perfectly, Judges will work independently, the military will also work efficiently everyone will be accountable”.

Meanwhile, Johnson Asiedu Nketia has urged voters to accept any money or goods offered to them by the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) seeking to buy their votes stating that it is “stolen money being returned.”

Addressing voters at the Adombrobe community in Akuapem South on Monday to kick off a five-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Asiedu Nketia accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of hoarding large sums of stolen money in their homes, claiming they are unable to deposit the funds in banks or transfer them abroad for fear of being busted.

He alleged that the NPP would distribute this money in a bid to secure votes in the upcoming elections but urged voters to collect and still vote against them.

“They have hoarded lots of stolen monies in their houses because when they send it to the bank or attempt to take it outside they will be exposed so they are hoarding them in their homes. They will come to share the looted monies in an attempt to buy your votes to retain power” Said Asiedu Nketia

He continued “collect and chop any money they bring to you it is your own monies they have stolen so either it comes in cash or kind be it cloth, Maggie cube, chicken collect with the mindset that it is your own stolen money the thief has returned part of it to invoke curse to do his wish. The deity that you invoke will rather kill the person while you walk free”
