Member of Parliament for Tano North, Dr Gideon Boako, has recounted how poverty and a lack of resources nearly prevented him from pursuing Senior High School education, saying the experience continues to influence his commitment to supporting young people.

Dr Boako said his own journey from Bomaa to Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School was marked by financial difficulties before the intervention of family members and other individuals who helped him remain on the path to education.

According to him, those experiences shaped his decision to support more than 2,000 students from Tano North who have gained admission to Senior High Schools.

He said the gesture was intended to give the beneficiaries a greater measure of the support that helped him overcome difficulties years ago.

“What happened yesterday in Tano North was not just an act of kindness. It was a long-held dream come true,” Dr Boako said in a Facebook post on Friday, September 18.

He added: “What I did yesterday, by the grace of God, was to give back to my younger brothers and sisters in multiples of what others did for me years ago.”

Dr Boako expressed hope that the beneficiaries would make good use of the opportunity and eventually extend similar support to others.

He also prayed for the students to overcome challenges and realise their aspirations.
