Inclusive Technology: Disability Hackathon To Be Held 23-25 October

The Disability Inclusive Hackathon (DI-HACK) organized by the Inclusive Tech Group (ITG), is an event that brings together some of the brightest young minds in the technology and innovation sector and persons with disabilities to co-design solutions. These solutions are intended to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities. Ten (10) teams are selected to participate in the hackathon based on ideas expressed in their proposals. Each team is made up of 2 – 3 individuals (with at least one person with a disability in each team) to create, develop, and pitch viable technological solutions to improve the quality of life of the over 3 million persons with disabilities in Ghana.

DI-HACK 2024 is a collaboration between Inclusive Tech Group and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Ghana Section. This partnership provides a unique opportunity for attendees of the International Conference on Adaptive Science and Technology (ICAST) to learn about the latest developments in digital inclusion and accessibility. By showcasing the DIHACK alongside the conference, participants will have the chance to see firsthand how technology can be used to create more inclusive solutions for individuals with disabilities.

The DI-Hack will be held from the 23rd to the 25th of October 2024 at the Ghana Civil Aviation Training Academy in Accra, under the theme “Leveraging Technology for an Inclusive, Accessible, and Sustainable World”.

This year’s DI-Hack, the 4th edition, promises to be an unparalleled experience, with participants from around the globe showcasing their cutting-edge ideas and solutions. Through a series of workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, participants will have the chance to exchange ideas and gain insights from each other’s unique perspectives, leading to the development of more innovative and impactful solutions. Additionally, the 2024 DI-Hack will emphasize sustainability and ethical technology for Persons with disabilities, showcasing the latest trends and advancements in the field.

From artificial intelligence and machine learning to blockchain and augmented reality, participants will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies and their potential applications in various fields to enhance the lives of persons with disabilities. The event will also feature keynote speakers and industry experts who will share their insights and experiences, inspiring participants to push the boundaries of innovation in their work.

Overall, DI-Hack exemplifies the immense impact of collaboration and creativity in the realm of technology and innovation. Attendees can anticipate witnessing groundbreaking ideas and solutions that will undoubtedly inspire a new era of innovation and progress within the industry.
