EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, has been adjudged the Best Court Correspondent in the Country.

The award was conferred on him at the JUSAG @50 anniversary celebration in Cape Coast held on the theme- “50years Of Championing Judicial Excellence; Embracing Integrity, Digitalization, And Upholding Judicial Independence and Staff Welfare!’”

JUSAG in awarding Murtala Inusah recognizes “his commitment, remarkable contributions, and exceptional performance as a Court Correspondent on Media issues*

Inusah is an experienced journalist who specializes in Court Reporting with over a decade of Court Reporting experience.

In recent times, his excellent reportage has earned him a lot of praises with many still wondering how is able to simplify legal terminologies in his reportage despite not being a lawyer.

Mr Inusah, who is the Head of Legal Desk at the EIB Network – operators of GHOne TV, Starr FM, Kasapa FM, Agoo FM/TV, Ebusua FM, Ultimate FM etc, has a running segment on GHOne TV and Starr FM dubbed Court Today*

As part of his work schedules, he provides daily update on all high profile pending cases at the Court on GHToday the flagship morning show on GHOne TV and Morning Starr on Starr FM dubbed Court Today.

The segment, which started in December 2023, is to provide updates on the status on all pending cases, the progress , and what accounts for the delay in case.

The segment also see Mr Inusah break down some of the legal terms for the understanding of the audience on some of the terminologies and despite not having a law degree, his done so with great alacrity.

With over 10 years experience in Court reporting, the EIB man in Court is known for his breaking all big cases of national interest at the Courts.

He is known for providing detailed reporting, hence it comes as no surprise when experienced legal brains acknowledge his reportage and JUSAG has endorsed that with the award.

“I am humbled by this honour from the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) adjudging me as the Best Court Correspondent in the country…Receiving this honour in the presence of the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana as by law established, Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo was a great feeling,” Murtala Inusah posted on his Facebook page shortly after the awards.

He thanked executives of JUSAG led by Samuel Afotey Otu and all who acknowledged his efforts in shaping justice delivery in the country.

Mr Inusah previous worked with the Daily Heritage newspaper prior to his re-assignment to GHOne TV and Starr FM in 2020.

As part of his duties, the experience Court reporter also report for Kasapa FM and writes for Kasapafmonline.com and Starrfm.com.gh amongst others under the EIB group.

It was not for anything that lawyers are hailing him for his reportage mainly due to his understanding of the legal terms despite not having a background in law.

As part of his works as a legal Affairs Correspondent, he has undergone series of training on Court reporting.

Mr Inusah, a product of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, with BA In Communication Studies with specialization in Journalism, is part of history as one of the few privileged journalists who have been duly accredited by the Judicial Service to report form the Courts.

He is among the few media practitioners who have covered the historic Presidential election petitions in 2013 and 2021.
