The Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, has appealed to striking staff of the hospital to return to work and continue providing healthcare services to patients.

In a statement addressed to all staff members on Monday, Dr. Baidoo expressed gratitude to workers for their support and solidarity during the ongoing impasse but emphasized the need to place the welfare of patients and the nation above all other considerations.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all staff of the hospital for your show of solidarity with me during this period. I am very grateful for your support,” he stated.

The KATH CEO, however, urged staff to resume their duties “in the supreme interest of Ghanaians and our valued patients” while awaiting further directions from the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the hospital’s governing board.

The appeal comes amid industrial action by some staff members following recent developments at the hospital, which have raised concerns about the continuity of healthcare delivery at one of Ghana’s largest referral facilities.

Dr. Baidoo indicated that he would defer to the decisions and guidance of the Health Minister and the KATH Board regarding the matter.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the government and the administration of President John Dramani Mahama.

“I remain committed to the cause of His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana,” he said.
The appeal is expected to form part of efforts aimed at resolving the dispute and restoring normal operations at the hospital, which serves patients across the Ashanti Region and beyond.
