Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) leader Percival Kofi Akpaloo has disclosed that he is facing over 20 charges from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) following his arrest earlier this month.

Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Friday, September 12, Akpaloo outlined the scope of the allegations against him, which include misappropriation of funds, forgery, theft, and causing financial loss to the state.

He said the charges also relate to a road construction project in Goaso, Ahafo Region, where EOCO questioned whether the work had been properly executed.

“They told me I’ve been arrested for misappropriation of funds, forgery, stealing, a whole lot, about 20 counts, willfully causing final loss to the State and had to write statement. Eventually, they told me that I did a job at Goaso in the Ahafo region and they believe I didn’t do the job and I’ve connived to come and dupe the State, so they needed to take me to the site.

Even though they said they would be giving me a bail on the Friday night, but on Monday around 3AM, they took me to the site. We went to the site and they saw everything themselves. Even the village people were telling them about what I’ve come there for do for them and they really appreciated,” he explained.

Akpaloo, who was arrested at his Kumasi residence on September 3, 2025, was granted police bail on strict conditions, including a GH¢10 million bond with two sureties.

He remained in EOCO custody for several days while working to meet these requirements and was finally released on Thursday, September 11.

EOCO has confirmed that investigations into the alleged financial crimes are ongoing, with Akpaloo continuing to cooperate with authorities while out on bail.
