Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Mark-Oliver Kevor, has declared his intention to seek another term in office to consolidate what he describes as the party’s electoral gains in the region.
Dr. Kevor says the NDC’s improved performance in the Eastern Region in the 2024 general election provides a foundation for the party to intensify its grassroots mobilisation rather than change its leadership direction.
He is expected to pick his nomination form on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, to formally begin the process for his re-election bid.
According to him, the NDC’s vote share in the region increased from 36.5 percent in 2016 to almost 48 percent in 2024, a development he attributes to sustained grassroots organisation and strategic party work.
“Almost 48% cannot be our destination. We have laid a foundation, but there is more work to do. This is the time for consolidation,” Dr. Kevor said.
He said his next phase of leadership would focus winning more seats and invading opposition strongholds to garner more votes.
“Our goal must be clear: to turn the Eastern Region green, constituency by constituency and branch by branch,” he stated.
Dr. Kevor, an IT Enginering specialist who is the immediate last Director General for National Information Technology Agency also pledged to deepen the use of data and structured organisation in the NDC’s activities, drawing lessons and inspiration from his political mentor, the late former Communications Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah.
He said his experience working with Dr. Omane Boamah reinforced his belief that modern political organisation requires detailed planning and disciplined execution.
“Elections are won not by noise, but by data, discipline, strategy and attention to detail,” he said.
Dr. Kevor said he intends to embed this approach more deeply in the party’s structures across the Eastern Region.
The Regional Chairman also positioned his re-election bid around generational cooperation within the party.
He said his experience working with both senior members who built the NDC and younger members gives him an understanding of the aspirations of both groups.
“I also offer myself as a bridge between generations,” he said.
“I believe that our greatest strength lies in bringing both to the same table, united by a common purpose.”
Dr. Mark Oliver – Kevor, who previously served as a Branch Secretary, Constituency Youth Organiser and twice as Regional Secretary, said his decision to seek another mandate was informed by his long involvement in the party.
“Every rung of that ladder has taught me something about who we are as a Party, the people we serve, and what it takes to win,” he said.
He is asking delegates to renew his mandate to enable him to continue what he described as unfinished work in the region.
“The foundation has been laid. Let us now complete the building,” Dr. Kevor said in a statement on Friday October 2,2026.
He is campaigning under the slogan “Unless You Kill God. Gye Nyame”, with the hashtag #KFC26.
