Miner petitions EOCO to probe Minerals Commission CEO and 2 others for alleged fraud

A small-scale miner and businessman, Michael Benziecie, has petitioned the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Martin Ayisi, along with Angela List, CEO of Adamus Resources Limited, and Rebecca Donkor, a board member of the same company, over alleged fraud.

According to Mr. Benziecie’s petition, he had known Mr. Ayisi, who subsequently introduced him to Ms. List to assist him with his mining activities.

Following an initial meeting, Mr. Benziecie was further introduced to Ms. Donkor. The two women, he claims, promised to facilitate his operations within the Adamus concession.

Alleged Deal and Payment
Mr. Benziecie alleges that Ms. List and Ms. Donkor demanded $100,000 to expedite the process. He said he paid an initial $50,000 and later completed the payment with an additional $50,000.

However, despite paying the full amount, Mr. Benziecie claims he was denied access to the Adamus concession.

He recounted instances of hostility when he attempted to enter the site, alleging that personnel working for Adamus Resources obstructed and harassed him.

“These two women gave me several assurances that they would facilitate my entry into the Adamus concession before I paid the money. But after receiving the full amount, they suddenly denied any knowledge of the agreement,” Mr. Benziecie stated.

He further claimed that security officers at the site heckled and frustrated his attempts to access the concession and pursue his mining activities.

Police and Commission Response
When the matter escalated, Mr. Benziecie said he reported it to the Takoradi Police but accused them of being “apathetic and lukewarm” in their response. A similar attitude, he added, was exhibited by the Minerals Commission when he reported the issue there.

EOCO Petition
Mr. Benziecie is now urging EOCO to investigate the matter thoroughly and grant him justice. He is also calling on the state agency to scrutinize the actions of Ms. List and Ms. Donkor, and to examine the operations of Adamus Resources Limited, including its security personnel, to determine whether their activities are legal.

Sources at EOCO confirmed receipt of the petition. However, both the Minerals Commission and Adamus Resources Limited have yet to issue any statement or comment on the allegations.
