The Finance Ministry has hinted of more reforms at the Ghana Revenue Authority following recent shake up at the top management of the authority.
Last month, the Finance Ministry reassigned three of the commissioners after appointing three new ones. It followed the authority’s inability to meet its revenue target for two consecutive years.
Deputy Finance Minister, Kwaku Kwarteng, in an interview with Starr Business said “the changes are still ongoing, and it is not just with the changes of the management of the GRA but it has to also do with compliance, arrangement, the way they operate the system. We are looking at all of that. We will continue to improve the GRA until it becomes a respectable institution that will not only be seen as helping tax payers to satisfy their tax obligation, but that will also be honest and fair and ensure that government gets its fair share of its revenue.”
He added that, the country’s focus should be on the operations of the GRA as an institution to deliver what Ghanaians want from them and not the individuals of the GRA.
