The Member of Parliament for Shai -Osudoku Constituency Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo saved an accident victim who was bleeding profusely but left at the road side.

The MP who was on her way to Parliament Thursday at about 10:30am came across the accident which involved a motor rider.

The motor rider suffered fractured legs and head injuries but was left to his fate at the roadside in a pool of blood.

Drivers plying the Dodowa to Oyibi highway refused to pick the bleeding victim.

The MP, Linda Obenewaa Akweley, picked the victim into her official vehicle and rushed him to Dodowa District Hospital and foot his medical bills.

The MP told Starr News “I witnessed a near fatal accident on my way to Parliament around the Dodowa Oyibi Road, no taxi was willing to pick the victim because he was seriously bleeding. Looking at his condition I felt he could die without emergency medical intervention so I picked him in my V8 vehicle to the hospital. I paid for his medical bill and I am happy his condition has been stabilized”.

Medical Superintendent of the Dodowa District Hospital, Dr. Ken Brightson, said the victims condition has been stabilized but will be referred for further treatment.

A year ago, the Opposition National Democratic Congress Member of Parliaments for Shai Osudoku Constituency insured and secured licenses for 2,500 Okada riders in the Constituency.

According to the MP, the poor nature of roads in the constituency make Okada an ideal transportation service which facilitate mobility of the constituents therefore the need to support the riders to secure licenses and insurance for the riders and pillion passengers as efforts are underway to construct the roads.

She said the insurance was critical due to the high accident risk associated with Okada.

“I took upon myself to secure licenses and Insurance for the almost 2,500 okada riders in this constituency.so far we have provided 500 okada riders with insurance. The insurance has a cover of Gh3000 so incase of any accident the person will get insurance cover of Gh1000 if injured or Ghc2000 if the person unfortunately dies” the MP said.
