Telecommunications giant, MTN Ghana, has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and heritage through sustained support for traditional festivals across the country.
Speaking at a brief ceremony to present a cheque of GH₵20,000, GH₵2,000 worth of airtime, and a hamper of assorted items to the Akyem Tafo Traditional Council in support of this year’s Ohum Kan Festival, Sheila Sorinye, Community Relations Advisor at MTN Ghana, stated that Ohum Kan is one of 40 festivals MTN supports annually across the country as part of its commitment to preserving and promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage.
“We believe I’m African heritage and culture. So we go out supporting festivals each year not only Tafo but we support about 40 festivals each year. Ohumkan is one of the festivals we support and this year. We are here to support Ohumkan and also support Dassebre on the occasion of his 40th anniversary”, said Sheila Sorinye.

Receiving the donation, the Chief of Akyem Tafo, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, expressed his appreciation to MTN for their continuous and valuable support towards the festival over the years.
This year’s Ohum Kan Festival holds special significance as it coincides with the 40th enstoolment anniversary of Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV.
To elebrate the milestone, an ICT Laboratory has been commissioned for the Akyem Tafo community.
Kyidomhene of Akyem Tafo, Nana Adepa Amponsah Yeboah,underscored the importance of ICT infrastructure in modern community development and development of human capital.
She commanded stakeholders for their contributions.
