The National Youth Authority (NYA) has officially launched the 2025 National Youth Festival under the theme “Igniting Potential; Inspiring Change,” with a renewed call to empower young people across the country through skills development, civic engagement, and national service.
Speaking at the launch event, the Chief Executive Officer of the NYA, Osman Ayariga, described the festival as more than a celebration; “a movement that will inspire lasting change in the lives of our young people and, by extension, our beloved nation.”
Ghana’s youth currently make up 38.2% of the national population. The CEO emphasized that this demographic dividend holds the key to Ghana’s future, but requires deliberate investment, not just frameworks. “Frameworks alone do not create change; action does,” he declared.
He outlined five key objectives of the month-long celebration:
- Delivering comprehensive skills training and entrepreneurship opportunities
- Reinforcing national values and positive youth behaviors
- Enhancing youth participation in governance
- Addressing pressing youth challenges such as mental health and substance abuse
- Showcasing youth contributions to national development
Throughout August, the festival will feature activities in all 16 regions including youth dialogues with religious leaders, community service, a presidential interaction on International Youth Day, stakeholder forums, climate action summits, and a national carnival.

“This is your month,” the CEO said, addressing the youth. “A time to showcase your talents, share your ideas, learn new skills, and connect with opportunities that can transform your life.”
He called on all stakeholders; government, civil society, private sector, and the media; to support the effort. “The National Youth Festival 2025 is more than a celebration; it is an investment in Ghana’s future,” he stressed. “When we ignite the potential of our youth, we inspire change that ripples through communities.”
