NDC outlines plans to improve access to healthcare

In a bid to address the long-standing challenges in Ghana’s healthcare system, former President John Mahama has unveiled a comprehensive healthcare plan as part of the NDC’s manifesto, promising to revolutionize access to care and bring healthcare services closer to the people.

With a focus on inclusivity and accessibility, the plan aims to transform the lives of millions of Ghanaians, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

As part of our comprehensive approach to healthcare, John Mahama outlined a series of initiatives aimed at improving access to care.

“There are some other activities that we planned for us to improve access to care. There is the Pharmacy Care Program, the Pharmacy Program. And what we are going to do under this, the NDC is going to do under this, is to change the regime so that pharmacies can have clinics attached to them”.

John Mahama shared a poignant story of students who have fallen ill in boarding schools. The lack of prompt medical care has led to devastating consequences, including loss of life. To address this critical issue, the NDC manifesto proposes a bold solution.

“By this way, the care is going to be closer to people in the community. Also, we’ve heard about students not being referred to hospitals early from boarding schools, and some of them dying. And the NDC’s manifesto is going to set up satellite clinics as an elevated form of the sick base in all boarding schools.”

John Mahama proposed an innovative solution that brings healthcare services to the workplace. By establishing satellite clinics in markets and transport stations, people will receive prompt medical attention when they need it most. This approach will revolutionize the way we access healthcare services.

“All boarding schools will have satellite clinics. Not just clinics, they will be manned by qualified health professionals, so that when you’re a child and you fall ill, you’ll be attended to promptly, and if you need to be referred, you will be referred on time. NDC, we are all about, we are all about the regular people”.

John Mahama declared that the NDC’s healthcare policy will leave no one behind. From market women to drivers, everyone deserves access to quality healthcare. By attaching clinics to markets and transport stations, we can make healthcare more accessible.

“So, we are not leaving out passengers, we are not leaving out drivers, we are not leaving out market women. What we intend to do is to attach clinics to markets and then trust stations. This way, should you fall sick at work, you’ll be attended to promptly instead of going around hospitals and not having a bed to sleep in”.

With the NDC’s healthcare plan, Ghanaians can look forward to a brighter future where quality healthcare is within reach, regardless of their background or location. By prioritizing the health and well-being of its citizens, Ghana can unlock its full potential and build a prosperous future for generations to come.
