A former MP for Afram Plains South, Joseph Appiah Boateng, has won back the Parliamentary candidate slot of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Boateng, who was going for his second term had his candidature withdrawn a few months to the 2016 election by the National Executives of the party over allegations of criminality.
Having been cleared of any wrongdoing Boateng has returned to secure the slot. He polled 352 votes while his close contenders Mark Oliver Kevor and incumbent Member of Parliament Eric Osei Owusu polled 227 and 260 votes respectively.
The Affram Plains South election was one of the hottest as far as the NDC Parliamentary Primaries was concerned .
The election was initially being contested by five candidates but two – Emmanuel Mbeebi and Bismark Owusu Amponsah – withdrew a day before the polls.
There was wild jubilation after the declaration. The losers congratulated the winner before the final declaration of by EC.
