A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Ishaq Ibrahim, has expressed confidence in the party’s manifesto, describing it as a “manifesto for jobs and business”.
Speaking on the Weekly Review Segment on Starr FM with Lantam Papanko, Ibrahim stated if you look at the content of the NPP manifesto “without listening to the distractions,” from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) “you would come to appreciate that it is indeed a manifesto for jobs and business.”
Ibrahim emphasized the NPP party’s focus on widening the tax network while reducing taxation to encourage more Ghanaians to contribute to national development.
He also highlighted the party’s provision for elderly care, describing the NPP as “a conservative party, but I call it conservative with compassion”.
When questioned about allegations against the Vice President, Ibrahim defended him, saying, “Most of the allegations leveled by the NDCs are at the doorsteps of the vice president. I mean, you don’t need to look hard before you know they are not true.” He explained that manifestos are made by a team, not just the flag bearer and that the NPP has done a good job in preparing its manifesto.
Ibrahim also addressed the issue of the e-levy, stating that the Vice President had previously expressed reservations about its introduction and had announced plans to abolish it in the NPP manifesto.
He stressed the importance of collective responsibility in cabinet decisions but also noted that it’s okay to revisit past actions and change course if necessary.
