Two members of the ruling New Patriotic Party have filed an injunction application restraining the party from carrying out the constituency executive election in the new Juaben North constituency of the Eastern region.

The applicants Godwin Osei ,and Bernard Amponsah are praying the Koforidua High Court to cancel the polling station executives and the electoral coordinators albums as compiled .

They also want the court to set aside the polling stations elections of the constituency conducted on February 27,2022.

An order directed at the party to re-conduct fresh elections with clear timelines and modalities.

The applicants say the polling station election held in February was charade and a facade .

Applicant say that the polling station elections ,upon which the register for the impending constituency executive election would be used is not a true reflection as same was not produced as per the modalities set by the NPP National Executives and directed at all constituencies to abide with” excerpts of the writ of summons filed on April 27,2022 read.

Meanwhile ,a statement issued by the Constituency election committee on April 28,2022 announced the indefinite postponement of the election.

“Kindly be informed the Constituency Election which was slated for Friday, 29th April, 2022 has been postponed until further notice. The postponement has been occasioned by the disagreement on the venue(s) and other related matters for the conduct of the election”.

The statement further said ” The CEC is in consultation and discussion with relevant stakeholders to agree on a venue for the election and after that, a new date and venue will be communicated as soon as possible. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused and continue to pray your support in making this election a peaceful one”.

Meanwhile, an aggrieved member of the NPP in Atewa East has also placed interlocutory injunction on the constitution election citing the album compiled for the election as fraudulent since no polling station election was held .
