In a recent interview on GHOne’s RhythmzLive with host Blessing, renowned gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy shed light on the significant changes within the gospel music industry, emphasizing the profound impact of digital transformation.

“We’re actually moving. I think the whole world is in a transition,” Ohemaa Mercy stated, capturing the essence of the global shift. “So wherever the world is moving, the Lord will direct us as to where we should direct our words, the messages that He’s given us.”

Reflecting on her journey, Ohemaa Mercy acknowledged the evolution of her music over the years. “Looking at where I was and now, there’s a vast difference in terms of songs, in terms of rhythm, in terms of the understanding,” she noted, highlighting the dynamic nature of her craft. She credited social media for revolutionizing the gospel music scene, making it easier for artists to reach a global audience.

“Massively, social media has really come to change a lot in our gospel music industry,” Ohemaa Mercy said. “Now, at first you had to put out CDs and all that. Somebody needed to buy it before they could listen to your songs. But now you can be in your home and it can reach millions of people. So it has actually come to help.”

The gospel artist also pointed out the diversification within the genre. “There is a vast difference now. We even have more genres in gospel music, like the chanting, and the worshiping side. A lot of genres are coming into the gospel.”

Ohemaa Mercy’s insights highlight the intersection of faith and technology, showcasing how digital platforms are not only transforming the way music is distributed but also expanding the creative boundaries of gospel music. Her reflections offer a glimpse into the future of the industry, where innovation and tradition coalesce to spread messages of hope and spirituality to an ever-growing audience.
