For the first time since 1995, the Prampram Traditional Council will mark this year’s Homowo celebration with a grand durbar.
Speaking to the lead anchor of Prampram based YouTube channel PramCitiTV’s Alvin Nii Okai Kasabrofo (DJ Soul), Nene Tetteh Afutu III, Chief of Afienya, said the durbar has been in the works for years, thanks to the acceptance of the elders to bury their differences and work for the good of the town.
“ Our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters living abroad must therefore come home to celebrate this important day, which will be one of many durbars to come,” he added.
Nene Tetteh Wakah III, the Paramount Chief of Prampram and President of the Prampram Traditional Council, on his part, appealed to the people to continue pursuing peace, since it is the only way the development the town seeks will materialise.
He said a lot of work behind the scenes has taken place within the traditional council, and he expressed gratitude to the elders within and outside of the council, for their enormous support over the years.
Chief Executive of the Ningo Prampram District, Al-latiff Tetteh Amanor, on his part, said the assembly will continue to collaborate with the traditional council, to continue works on some development initiatives that are ongoing in the district. On this year’s elections, he appealed to the public to keep the peace.
According to him, divergent political opinion is not a crime, and therefore encouraged the public to eschew violence.
“If I am to look for somebody from the family house today, I don’t go there asking of the person’s political affiliation-it does not matter to anyone,” he stressed.
He added that the security agencies are on the alert to deal with anyone who misconducts himself during and after the elections.
Apart from the durbar, there will also be clean up exercise as well as the annual Nene Tetteh Wakah III healthwalk and screening exercise.
The theme for this year’s Homowo is: Celebrating culture to promote perpetual unity and development’ and will take place on August 31st.
