The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has recruited 100,628 beneficiaries as of September 30, 2026, representing 75.7% of its annual target of 133,000.
The Agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Malik Basintale, announced this at the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
He said the Agency had achieved more than three-quarters of its recruitment target, with three months remaining in the year.
Mr Basintale attributed the figures to an expansion in the number of young Ghanaians accessing employment opportunities through the Agency’s various interventions.
The programmes are designed to provide temporary employment, practical skills, workplace experience and pathways to economic empowerment for young people.
“Since assuming office, we have increased beneficiary recruitment by at least 566.67%,” he said, describing the growth as an expansion of opportunities for young people across the country.
“For me, these are not merely statistics on paper. They represent real people, real livelihoods and real opportunities for young men and women who deserve a fair chance to contribute to the development of our country,” he added.
YEA targets improved programme delivery
Mr Basintale said the Agency would continue to improve programme delivery and address implementation gaps as it works towards achieving its annual recruitment target.
He stressed that the YEA’s objective went beyond increasing beneficiary numbers, noting that its interventions were also intended to equip young people with skills and work experience to improve their economic circumstances.
