Adidas is expanding its base in West Africa with the opening of an Adidas Originals Neighborhood store in Accra.

Adidas will be opening a new shop at Legon on November 25, 2016. Kumasi will have a shop next year as well as an online-based shopping center.

A Senior Retail and Franchise Director at adidas, Warren Bowers is optimistic about the prospects of the business.

“We have actually been in Accra for two years already, we opened up in this (Airport Residential Area) two years ago, been to West Hills Malls and then we moved to Airport house.

“We have been here for more than two years now; it is a long term view not a short term. Accra certainly even though GDP has slowdown in recent years there is immense potential, we have identified that and we certainly are not planning to slow down.” Mr. Bowers told Starr Business.

Bowers added the development shows adidas is accelerating its presence in Ghana, adding “we certainly have no plans of leaving Accra, we are here to stay.”

Valerie Fontanier-Ghajar, Chief Executive of Nutmeg Limited, the official retail partner of adidas in Ghana added, “the Neighbourhood flagship store will usher in a new experience for adidas Originals fans in Ghana”.

She explained that there is so much for adidas fans to look out for, adding “the store will offer newly introduced and exciting products for our esteemed customers and Accra creators alike”.
