President Akufo-Addo has stated that the challenges confronting Ghana demand an immediate and concerted effort at addressing them.

He said such challenges informed his decision to put his cabinet together in record time.

Delivering his first state of the nation address in parliament Tuesday, the President called on Ghanaians to join hands with his government as he works to improve the living conditions of the citizenry.

“I have heard it said that I am behaving like a man in a hurry. Mr. Speaker, I am, indeed, in a hurry, I am in a great hurry.  The times, in which we live, demand that we, all, be in a hurry to deal with the problems we face.

“The conditions in our country demand that government machinery functions efficiently and at full force, and that nothing is left on autopilot,” the president stated.

He said his government will adopt prudent and practical measures to address the problems of the country.

“We are going to have to implement some tough, prudent and innovative policies to get out of this financial cul-de sac”.
