The people of Denkyira-Oboase, who lynched the young military commander Maxwell Adam Mahama, broke down in uncontrollable tears Friday as the major was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Accra.
The entire town in the Central region was adorned in mourning cloths – red and black – as elderly women wail before national TV cameras and begged the nation to forgive them for their iniquities.
Major Mahama was allegedly mistaken as an armed robber as a resident spotted a side pistol on him and was lynched by an incensed mob of the town.
