President Akufo-Addo’s District Chief Executive (DCE) nominee for Tolon  Hajia Amama Sayibu has been rejected by the District Assembly.

She polled 13 YES votes representing 37.14% out of a total of 35 votes cast, with 22 NO votes representing 62.68%.

Her rejection followed a stiff opposition to her nomination by the regent of Tolon, Rtd. Major Sulemana Abubakari and some supporters of the ruling government.

According to sources close to the development, the election was supervised by the Minister of State in charge of National Security at the Presidency and Member of Parliament (MP) for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, Deputy Northern Regional Minister and MP for Bunkpurugu, Solomon Boar and MP for Tolon, Wahab Suhiyini Wumbei.

The Regent of Tolon Major Rtd. Sulemana Abubakari was also present at the ceremony.

Hajia Sayibu is one of the four women nominated as DCEs by President Akufo-Addo for the Northern Region.
