Legendary highlife musician Daddy Lumba has been appointed tourism ambassador for Ghana.

The gifted musician who supported the campaign of President Akufo-Addo during the 2012 and 2016 elections is among leading celebrities in the country who publicly declared their backing of the NPP, even in opposition.

A statement by the tourism ministry announcing the appointment said: “I write to officially confirm your appointment as tourism ambassador for Ghana”.

Lumba born Charles Kwadwo Fosu in Nsuta, near Mampong, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. In the early 1980s, debuted on the highlife scene with his massive hit “Yeeye Aka Akwantuo Mu” with Nana Acheampong.

He has been consistent with the release of multiple-hit albums since then and has established himself as one of Ghana’s most popular singers of his genre,
