President Akufo-Addo through his Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah, has announced a cash reward of $10,000 to the Ghana Weightlifting team, the Black Cranes for their exploits at the just ended Africa Weightlifting Junior and Youth Championship in Kampala, Uganda.

Young weightlifters Christian Amoah, David Akwei, Bismark Adjei and Richmond Sarfo won six medals at the championships.

Akwei won a silver medal, Amoah won gold, whiles Adjei won silver and a bronze with Sarfo winning two silver medals and the just ended African youth championships in Uganda.

Out of the 12 countries that competed in the Championship, Ghana’s Black Cranes finished off as the third best team on the table.

The Black Cranes also competed in the Commonwealth games qualifiers in Gold Coast, Australia, where the team successfully secured qualification for all four athletes for next year’s Commonwealth games in Gold Coast.

Meanwhile, President of the federation Ben Nunoo Mensah is already looking forward to medals from these athletes at next year’s Commonwealth games in Australia,Gold Coast.
