Communications minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful says President Akufo-Addo is a liberal-minded leader who has respect for views from his subordinates.
According to her, the President encourages his appointees to speak up on issues they feel strongly about.
Hitherto winning the 2016 elections, opponents of Mr. Akufo-Addo had painted him in the media as a mean autocrat who is immersed in his belief that he is superior to all. He was accused of deciding on who to work within the executive body of the New Patriotic Party.
Speaking to Francis Abban on the Morning Starr Wednesday, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful who served as special assistant to the President while he was still a private lawyer, said Nana Addo is a morale booster for all who come his way.
“Being the Special Assistant to the President some time back, I learnt to sleep with a notepad by my side because he could call you at any time to get something done the following day. Working under Nana Akufo-Addo, you’ll have to be prepared because he makes sure he brings out the best in you.
“He is not a man who is jealous over achievements by others, he will rather encourage you to be at your best all the time. He is a man who urges you to speak your mind about anything and assures you that he respects your views. He will listen to you and if your views are superior, he will work with it,” she said.
But former deputy communications minister Felix Kwakye-Ofosu says the President is rather good at rhetoric.
“President Akufo-Addo is good at Rhetoric. There is some level of aloofness when I look at the President in some instances. We were told the 1D1F project will start when the rains stop. We’ve not had rains in a long time but there is no sign that the project is going to start,” he told Abban on Morning Starr.
