The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Thursday embarked on a massive decongestion exercise along the Circle Railway lines, flattening several structures belonging to alleged prostitutes and criminals.

Monitoring the exercise for Starr News, Daniel Nii Lartey reported of a heavy police presence during the exercise.

Briefing the Journalists on the exercise, the Chief Executive of the AMA, Mohammed Adjei Sowah said the move was a city-wide strategy “to create order and instill discipline in Accra.”

He said the decongested area over the years gained notoriety as the “hub for criminals and all social vices” in the capital city.
