The embattled director for the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital Dr. Eugene Dordoye has finally proceeded on leave.
In a letter cited by Starr News and copied to the various unit heads, the accountant and controller general, the deputy head of the Pharmaceutical department of the hospital among others, Dr. Dordoye indicated that his leave commenced on Tuesday 27th of February, 2018.
The letter said he was handing over the affairs of the mental home to deputy in charge of pharmaceutical services at the hospital Mr. David Otuo Serebuor to act in his stead.
This appears to be in sharp contrast to an earlier directive given by the Health Ministry.
The ministry in February at a meeting with staff of the hospital indicated that Dr. Dordoye was going to be removed from the facility after agitations for his removal by staff intensified.
The Medical director has been accused of having poor working relations, corrupt practices among other charges.
The deputy Minister for Health Tina Mensah in a meeting with the nurses last Month said the medical director had been given a week to vacate his post .
With the latest development, the Public Relations Officer for the Psychiatric Group of Ankaful Emmanuel Ofori who declined to speak on record told Starr News’ Central regional correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour that they are surprised at the latest turn in events.
He, however, said in the interim, they will remain calm and observe as events unfold at the facility.
