The Chief Executive Officer of the Advanced BodySculpt Centre at the Obengfo Hospital at Weija in Accra, Dr. Dominic Obeng-Andoh, has been charged with murder by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Police Service.
Dr, Obeng-Andoh is under investigation over the mysterious death of the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship Innovation Programme (NEIP), Stacy Offei Darko at his medical facility.
He has, however, been denied bail by an Accra Magistrate court after he was whisked there from the Police Hospital where he was receiving treatment for an unknown ailment.
Offei Darko, 37, reportedly died at the Obengfo Hospital medical facility under mysterious circumstances. Her remains, according to her mother, Nana Akosua Anima, was concealed at the facility by Dr. Obengfo for three days before it was sent to the mortuary without the knowledge of the family.
Dr. Obengfo was arrested with several other accomplices and are helping with investigations.
Officials at the Korle Bu Hospital have revealed that a post-mortem will be conducted on the remains of the late Offei Darko.
Meanwhile, the Medical and Dental Council has revealed that Dr. Obeng-Andoh was operating illegally after he failed to renew his license which expired in 2013.
Dr. Obeng Andoh is expected back in court on June 12.
It will be recalled that the Medical and Dental Council closed down Obengfo Hospital in January 2017 with plans to completely evacuate patients who were undergoing treatment at the facility.
The closure on Thursday [January 27] was the second in a legal action against the facility after the council revoked the license of Dr. Obeng-Andoh in 2013 for operating illegally.
This follows complaints by some patients that they were having complications after visiting the plastic surgery section of the hospital, that is, the Advance Body Sculpture Centre.
The Medical and Dental Council subsequently looked into the allegations and came out with the conclusion that the facility’s CEO Dr Dominic Obeng Andoh is not a certified surgeon and is, therefore, practicing illegally.
But Dr Obeng Andoh insisted that he was trained in cosmetic surgery in Florida, the USA for two weeks and was awarded a certificate.
He said his hospital was locked down without a warrant.
But some four months down the lane, operations begun in earnest at the hospital.
