Goosie Tano

Goosie Tanoh has formally written to the leadership of the National Democratic Congress of his intentions to contest the upcoming flagbearership race of the opposition party.

The letter is to enable him get the backing  of the party executives should he be impeded  as he goes to the regions to canvass for votes.

Goosie who is a known face within the NDC fraternity broke away from party in 1998 when former President JJ Rawlings chose the late Atta Mills to lead the party in the 2000 elections, but has rejoin in the hope to win power from the ruling New Patriotic Party in 2020.

He will have to beat competition from some 10 other candidates including frontrunner John Mahama.

Submitting his letter Thursday, Mr. Tanoh said:  “We are here today to fulfill a requirement,  as announced by our dear General Secretary to submit our letter of intent, as to the intention of myself Augustus Goosie Tanoh to contest the presidential primaries for the NDC and hopefully with success become the flagbearer for NDC in the 2020 election”.

On his part, the NDC general secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia assured the candidates of fairness from the national executives.

“We are not worried if anybody does not bring their letters of intent and they proceed to campaign. They will not be fringing on any of our laws. But if they meet a problem on the field, they will find it problematic to reach anybody to complain to. This is not the first I am presiding over such election, I am sure my record of impartiality”.  when it comes to such elections is already known, and I don’t need to repeat it,” he said.
