The First Lady of Ghana, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo has donated assorted school items to thousands of school kids in Basic schools across the country.
The timely presentation is to support school going kids as they prepare for the resumption of a fresh academic year beginning Tuesday, September 11, throughout Ghana.
In all, 11 districts from all the 10 regions in the country have each received 20 Boxes of shoes summing up to almost 480 pairs in each box, as well as five Maxi-cartons of educational materials from the Samaritan’s Purse.
The beneficiary districts include Upper Manya Krobo in the Eastern Region, Konongo in the Ashanti Region, Banda in the Brong Ahafo, Yendi in the Northern Region and Wa West and Bawku in the Upper West and Upper East Regions respectively.
The rest are Krachi East in the Volta Region, Cape Coast in the Central region as well as Ahanta West district in the Western Region.
Presenting the items on behalf of the First Lady and the Rebecca Foundation, Mrs Akosua Newman, Director of Operations of the Foundation expressed hope that the items will help increase and sustain enrolment, especially of the girl child.
On behalf of the beneficiary districts, Mrs Susan Akomeah, Municipal Chief Executive of the Konongo Municipal Assembly was grateful for the gesture and pledged to ensure that the items will equitably be distributed towards achieving desired results.
