The Glory Assembles of God church at Sakumono has held its 7th Shaping and Sharpening conference, SHASHACON, as part of activities to aid youth empowerment in the Christian faith.

The 1-day event themed, “Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit for Wealth Management” saw hundreds of participants from the Tema community throng the church premises to receive counsel on matters that bother on life. Welcoming participants to the event, head pastor of the Youth Ministry, Pastor Prince Baidoo stressed the importance of the youth to receive guidance on making money.

“There are various groups, societies, institutions and individuals that are opposed to the church and are willing to woe the young Christian with money and material wealth to the extent that if it were possible to get them out of the Christian faith.”

He added resource persons were chosen “to deal comprehensively with the theme and I will urge all of us to take advantage of this rare privilege to turn our lives around. I see wealthy young people with my eyes of faith in the coming years that will use their wealth to advance the cause of the gospel Amen.”

Taking his turn to address the participants, former CEO of Vanguard Assurance Company Limited, Emmanuel Baba Mahama cautioned the youth to be weary of illicit means of moneymaking.  “I’ll tell you this, you need to work and earn money legitimately. No shortcuts, no easy routes to success. Look at the truly rich and mighty in society, we all can trace their source of income. For someone like BILL Gates, someone calculates how much money he makes. But for the many drug Lords and thieves, they know no peace,” he said.

On his part, managing director of Smart Choices Investment and Business Consultancy Ltd (SIBC) warned against Ponzi schemes. Citing Loom as an example, Mr Emmanuel Nyame asked the group to always seek further information on any investment opportunity that came their way to avoid the loss of capital.

Some of the participants who spoke after the conference expressed satisfaction of the knowledge acquired.
