The family of the murdered NPP Takoradi Constituency Treasurer say they suspect ‘contract killing’ in the death of their relative.

The late Mark Yaw Ofori was shot and killed by an unknown assailant at his private residence at Fijai in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region Tuesday.

Elder brother of the deceased Sam Ellis told Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan that the family could not understand why the perpetrator bolted away with only Mark’s laptop after shooting him four times.

Mr Ellis further revealed that the family has placed a GHC50,000 bounty on the perpetrator.

“What we are saying is that as we are now at the scene and what we are saying is that we have placed fifty thousand cedis on board that whoever has any information, a credible one apart from that of government and police, I mean the official one, but the family this is our stance because we just want to know what is going on and the reason behind that is what we are yearning for, so if the person can give us the information, we are ready and we will hand him the fifty thousand cedis cash, this is not a cheque,” he announced.

The death of Mark Ofori has thrown his political party, relatives and friends into a state of sorrow.

Mr Sam Ellis further stated that they are happy with the pace of investigations by the police administration since the death of their brother and that very soon the perpetrator will be arrested.

Meanwhile, a team of forensic experts from the Criminal Investigations Department from the Ghana Police Service from Accra have collected extra samples from the crime scenes and ordered for an autopsy to be done to aid their investigations.
