Government has set up an inter-agency task force to work on Ghana’s response following the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The task force is made up of state agencies including the Ghana Airport Company, Immigration, Customs, the Ghana Health Service, the Ministry of Information among others.

Addressing a technical meeting of the task force in Accra on Monday, Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu gave assurance that government will release funds to support for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus.

Mr. Agyemang-Manu said apart from the funding assurances, government was also stepping up health surveillance at the various points of entry especially at the airports.

He charged the various agencies to support government by ensuring that the necessary measures are taken on the response for smooth implementation.

The task force also discussed implementation of case management protocols especially with transportation of suspected cases, Quarantine and Restrictive entry as well as intersectoral collaboration especially on awareness creation.

Later on Tuesday, members of the task force took some journalists on an inspection tour of Terminal 3 arrivals on Ghana’s preparedness against the spread of Corona Virus.
